About Eclipse Tractus-X

Many organizations. One open-source community. We bring together industry initiatives, technology projects, and companies to build dataspaces that work across industries.

Where we build dataspaces

Community Built. Open to everyone.

Eclipse Tractus-X™ brings together contributors from different organizations, open-source projects, industry initiatives, and independent companies. Together, we develop the software and knowledge needed for secure, sovereign, and interoperable data exchange.

Our ecosystem

Different contributors. Shared building blocks.

The community connects industry knowledge, open-source technology, and practical experience. This is how the different groups come together.

Our history

From innovative automotive roots to global core for dataspaces

Eclipse Tractus-X started with the automotive industry and has grown into an open-source home for dataspace initiatives across industries globally. We build the core for interoperable and secure data exchange across industries.

  1. Dataspaces for every industry

More industries and initiatives join to build and reuse shared, interoperable dataspace technology in the open.

  2. Tractus-X Accelerator

The Tractus-X Accelerator is a cohort-based support program for projects, developers and organizations. It systematically lowers the technical and organizational barriers to entry and sustainably increases active participation in the open-source community.

It combines proven approaches from startup acceleration with the requirements of industrial open-source ecosystems, and focuses on:

    • Structured onboarding and qualification of new projects and developers
    • Test and development infrastructure
    • Targeted mentoring by experienced community members
    • Further development of governance, release and quality processes
    • Sustainable community and exchange formats

  3. Cross-industry collaboration

Factory-X contributes its open-source code and use-case deliverables, so Manufacturing-X working groups and other -X initiatives can build on them. Tractus-X also partners with the Eclipse Dataspace Working Group as a neutral home.

  4. Beyond automotive

The project scope officially extends beyond the automotive industry and Catena-X, welcoming new active players. Announced at the fifth Eclipse Tractus-X Community Days.

  5. KIT 2.0 Architecture

KITs are reorganized into modular, reusable layers so multiple dataspaces and industries can share the same foundations while adding their own use cases.

How we work together

From shared needs to shared solutions

  1. 01

    Bring real-world needs

Industry initiatives and associations bring use cases, requirements, and domain knowledge. Companies and users contribute feedback from putting dataspaces into practice.

  2. 02

    Build shared technology

Developers across organizations contribute code, documentation, tests, and features. Collaboration with other Eclipse projects connects reusable components with industry needs.

  3. 03

    Reuse across industries

Shared software and KITs help teams build solutions for different dataspaces. Improvements can flow back into the project and benefit the wider community.

What we create

Open technology for connected industries

Open-source software

We build reference implementations, libraries, demonstrators, and services for dataspaces. These include connectors, identity components, the Digital Twin Registry, Portal, Industry Core Hub, and the Tractus-X SDK, alongside solutions for traceability, sustainability, and supply chains.
